AR renovates Apollo market shed

The women's market shed in Tamenglong town, which was renovated by 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector Assam Rifles/IGAR (East) was inaugurated and dedicated to the local people by the commandant on Friday.
In a release, PRO (Defence) informed that the women's market shed opposite Apollo ground was not in a hygienic state and was not used effectively.
During rain, the problems magnified due to water clogging.
The local women approached 44 Assam Rifles to help them repair the market shed just in front of the entrance of the battalion.
The battalion within their meager resources resolved to revamp the market shed.
The renovation works included repair of walls, roof, cement floor, painting of roof and white washing of walls.
The commandant while addressing stressed upon the importance of women empowerment for a better society.
He further emphasised upon the contribution of women in the nation building and said this small act of battalion shall empower rural women and shall build upon by leveraging resources and inspire many other villages and usher a new ray of hope for development of Tamenglong district.
He called upon people to move towards self-reliance and sustainability.
