Nambol area flooded as embankment caves in

Development & Protection, United Voluntary Organisation, Nambol has informed that people of Nambol are facing flood situation as 50 feet stretch of embankment of Nambol Riser caved in at Nambol Makha Leikai Khundol following incessant downpour in the last 10 days in the state.
In a release, DPUVO secretary Th Lamjingba said that its members inspected several flooded areas in Nambol and found out that 50 houses at Nambol Sabal Leikai; 150 at Nambol Kongkham Makha Leikai including fish farms; 60 houses at Nambol Naorem including fish farms; houses and fish farms at Kongkham Mayai Leikai, Nambol Makha Leikai, Nambol Laitonjam, Utlou, Bamdiar and Kodompokpi Lamkhai; 100 houses at Nambol Laitonjam Khori Leikai; and 20 houses and fish farms at Phoijing Awang Leikai have been flooded.
The flood victims of Nambol Khori Leikai, Phoijing Awang and Laitonjam are taking refuge at Nambol Higher Secondary School, Nambol Leiren High School and Laitonjam Makha Club, he continued, while adding that Water Resources Department and education minister along with Nambol Municipal Council are helping in repairing the breached embankment of Nambol River.
However, the embankment is yet to be repaired, he added.
While urging the government to provide necessary relief to the flood affected people, Th Lamjingba called for providing compensa tion for the loss and also appealed to the people of Nambol to help in repairing the breached embankment.
