NER conclave begins in Guwahati

A 3-day North East Research (NER) Conclave commenced from Friday at Bhupen Hazrika Auditorium, IIT Guwahati with Union minister of education Dhamendra Pradhan inaugurating the conclave as the chief guest.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, union minister of ports, shipping & waterways and AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal, Union MoS Dr RK Ranjan Singh, Manipur education minister Th Basanta, Dr Subash Sarkar, Dr Ranuj and other important dignitaries also attended the inauguration programme.
Education minister of Manipur, Th Basanta interacted with the heads of academic, research institute and industries and held discussion on NEP-2020, research and development networking in higher education in the northeast, cluster university, national research foundation activities in the North East, teacher training and education in the higher education and skill development, promoting start-ups and entrepreneurship.
The minister also drew the attention of Union minister of education and chairman of AICTE to help establish the National Research Foundation in Manipur as the state is in the corridor of the proposed trans-Asian superhighways.
The minister also stressed the need to encourage industry-based research activities for sustenance of livelihood, especially amongst the youth.
Besides education minister Basanta, director of University and higher education, Manipur Dr Rangitabali Waikhom, additional director P Shantikumar, Manipur College principal Dr W Sambhunath Singh and Lilong Haoreibi College principal Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh are representing Manipur in the conclave.
