Aadhaar enrolment drive for kids underway

Imphal, May 20 2022:
Social Welfare Department has launched an Aadhaar enrolment drive for children in the age group of 6 months to 5 years at Wangkhei Durga Puja Lampak community hall, Imphal East on Friday.
The enrolment drive will be carried out in all ICDS project locations to ensure maximum coverage.
Speaking as chief guest on the occasion, Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Thokchom Satyabrata called upon officials of the Social Welfare Department officials toJeave no stone unturned to achieve the tar get set.
While stating that the social welfare minister js an action-oriented young leader, Satyabrata expressed confidence that the minister concerned who will do the best to bring improvement in the department and ensure that the benefits of various schemes of the department reach the targeted population.
Children also need Aadhaar number in order to avail benefits of government schemes and as such it has become necessary to enroll them, he stressed while pointing out that it is not just an ID but a gateway to enjoying the benefits of various government schemes.
In his address, social welfare minister Heikham Dingo said that the drive is a major initiative of the department and the state government.
He also hailed Anganwadi workers and helpers for their role in guiding the ^children towards the right path in their lives.
They monitor every child right from the womb of their mother and are not only helping in providing nutritious foods to the children but also teaching them valuable life lessons, he added.
Social welfare director Ngangom Uttam also attended the inaugural session of the Aadhaar enrolment drive.
