Kakching, June 28 2022:
Informing that a large chunk of state land in Kakching Leingang Pat area under Dag No 244, village no 59, which was used as playground and grazing held, has been encroached by wealthy individuals over the years, Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association (KBBWA) has appealed to the government to investigate the matter and evict the encroachers.
In a statement, the association informed that the particular area, which is located on the eastern side of Assam Rifles camp, western side of NH102 and southern side of Imphal-Sugnu Road was used by the local people as playground and grazing held.
Some landless families started settling in the area some years ago, which the local people did not have any objection considering their condition.
However, many wealthy individuals such as doctors, engineers, businessmen and government employees are buying these lands in collusion with some corrupt officials of settlement department since the last few years, the statement said, while calling them as illegal encroachers.
It then appealed to the government to look into the matter and evict them.
