Speaking in this regard, Laishram Deven informed that for the first time in Manipur, the hospital under the supervision of JNIMS society chairman and CM N Biren successfully conducted kidney transplantation on three patients.
The transplantations were done under PMGAY and CMHT schemes free of cost.
As the team of JNIMS doctors worked sincerely and carefully, two kidney recipients have already been discharged from the hospital, he informed.
The three patients who underwent kidney transplantation successfully at JNIMS are from Thoubal, Ukhrul and Churachandpur districts.
The donors for the patients from Thoubal and Ukhrul districts are their respective mothers while the donor for the patient from Churachandpur is her own husband.
Lauding the donors, the director said that monetary aid is being given to them as a mark of encouragement.
He informed that preparations are underway for kidney transplantation for two more patients under PMGAY and CMHT schemes.
With the success of kidney transplantation, the hospital is preparing for other treatments including heart, neuro and cancer.
Moreover, initiatives have been taken up under the supervision of state government and by joining hands with a firm in Japan for setting up of a 150-bedded cancer hospital.
People of the state will be greatly benefited once the cancer hospital is set up, he maintained.
Deben further said that the hospital has been trying all its best for the patients and will continue to do so in future.
However, it is unfortunate that some conflicts occur at times between doctors and patient parties due to misunderstanding.
He appealed to people to trust the tireless efforts of the hospital.
