5 more arrested in Moijing drug factory bust case

In follow-up investigation on the brown sugar factory busting case at Moijing on June 16, five more people involved in running the factory have been arrested by the commando unit of Thoubal police under the supervision of SP Thoubal.
Parading the arrested persons before the media on Tuesday, SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam said that a regular NDPS case was registered at Thoubal police station against Thoubalmayum Ahamadi Bibi, who was arrested during the raid on the brown sugar factory and remanded to police custody for 15 days till June 29 .
After intense interrogation and based on her disclosure the five people involved in the drug manufacturing racket were arrested, the SP said and identified the arrestees as Bembem (28), wife of Md Tamijur Rahaman alias Ningthou of Moijing Mina Bazar (arrested on June 21 from Thoubal Wangmataba); Zamzam (22) daughter of Thoubalmayum Ahamadi Bibi (June 22 from Porompat); Rahena (39) wife of Md Idrish Khan of Kiyam Siphai Leitanpok Leikai (June 23 from Moijing Leingoijil); Md Fazlur Rahaman alias Abbas (41) son of Rejoul Haque of Lilong Leihaokhong (June 22 from Kakwa Naorem Leikai); and Md Noor (28) son of Md Tomei of Moijing Awang Leikai arrested on June 27 from Moijing Mina Bazar.
The SP further said that investigation is underway to find out the source of the raw materials i.e., opium, ammonium chloride and others used in manufacturing of brown sugar.
Massive efforts are still on to cause the arrest of other involved members of the drug manufacturing racket as well as suppliers, financiers, drug dealers and transporters, he added.
