Imphal, August 07 2021:
While pointing out that Covid-19 pandemic has tremendously affected all including the students, All Manipur Muslim Organisation's Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) has appealed to the government for coming up with a policy for reducing the amount of rent charged by landlords from the student tenants.
In a release, AMMOCOC general secretary Md Wahidur Rahman said that Covid-19 second wave has drastically affected not only the people of Manipur but also all across the country.
This has added more burdens to the already vulnerable daily wage earning families.
With the continuous imposition of curfew and lockdown in the state, the vulnerable families who used to sustain their livelihood to daily wage-earning activities are fighting a mighty war for survival.
Moreover, the impact of the pandemic on the student community has been tremendous, he lamented.
Students from various parts of the state studying in academic institutions and coaching institutes in Imphal and its nearby areas are facing numerous inconveniences, Wahidur stressed, while urging the government to initiate necessary measures and advise the landlords to collect only one -third of the rent from the tenants.
