Dog trader escapes, FIR registered

Continuing the efforts of saving animals, Yening Animal Foundation on Tuesday launched a drive at B Aijalon village in Churachandpur district for arresting an illegal dog trader.
However, the trader managed to escape.
Nonetheless, an FIR has been registered against him.
Speaking to media persons in this connection, chairperson Sapana Laishram informed that a team of the Foundation waited at the residence of Tongkhonchon Haokip on Tuesday morning for rounding him up after receiving reliable information that he is bringing dogs from Moreh.
However, he escaped from them in a grey Ecco van along with 4/5 dogs from near the gate of his residence.
In a bid to take up action against the illegal dog trader Tongkhochon Haokip, an FIR has been registered at Churachandpur police station, she continued, while urging the people to help in tracing the dog absconding trader.
She further appealed to the people to stop consuming dog meat as food.
