CCpur, August 07 2021:
Churachandpur reported zero Covid-19 deaths today, which makes it the first in August, according to IDSP data released in the evening today.
The State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee however said that Churachandpur reported one death in the last 24 hours and this figure is reflected in the 12 deaths reported from across the State today.
The district's death toll from the pandemic stood at 156 as of August 7, the same as the number of the deaths reported on August 6, while the toll for August alone stands at 11.Consequently, the district's positivity rate too has dipped to one of the lowest in months, with the daily positivity rate at 6.04 percent today.
It is the third time that the daily test positivity rate has dropped to single digit since July.
On August 4, for the first time in months, the district reported a positivity rate of 9.4 percent.
It subsequently reported 6.9 percent yesterday.
The dip in test positive rate for the past two days is an encouraging development as the district's daily positivity rate all through July was above 12 percent with a monthly average of 17 percent.
The district hospital isolation ward too appears less stressed as just 26 out of 54 beds are occupied as of today.
However, it was disheartening to note that an investigation mounted by the district police after reports about consumable items meant for Covid patients' reported missing exposed the involvement of a part-time multi-tasking staff engaged by the hospital.
A team of the Churachandpur district police led by ASI Paumuansang and OC CCP PS under the supervision of Addl SP (Ops) CCP undertook a screening of some of the Ward boys (MTS) later in today as they received reports about mobile phones and other items missing from the Isolation ward and other wards of District Hospital.
During the course of their screening, one of the MTS staff reportedly admitted to stealing items belonging to the patients.
One mobile phone was immediately recovered from his posession while two more phones are also recovered a few moments later.
The apprehended Muktitasking staff whose identity has not yet been revealed was reportedly working in the Covid-19 isolation ward of the district hospital.
He is currently under police custody.
