Positive cases in 113 BSF swell

Imphal, July 29 2020:
Cases of Covid-19 amongst the personnel of 113 Bn BSF based inside the STC BSF campus in Churachandpur has swelled as 9 more tested positive today, taking the tally within the border sentinel's barrack to 64.The first case from the force was detected on July 3, 2020 with one of the personnel testing positive for the contagion.
Four more cases were found on July 16 and, another 11 after 6 days.
In the last three days the cases shot-up, with 8 cases returning positive on July 27.Yesterday, 31 more turned out to be positive while 9 more continued the streak today.
Most of the cases in the BSF, including the ones that came positive today were tested using Rapid Antigen Test.
With cases swelling inside the barrack, the CO 113 Bn has requested the Deputy Magistrate Churachandpur to make requisition to quarantine their personnel.
Accordingly, the Churachandpur DM Pawan Yadav today issued an order requisitioning Kendriya Vidyalaya STC BSF for the purpose.
Meanwhile, Churachandpur has recorded 4 other positive cases from VRDL JNIMS today.
One of them, a 29-year-old driver working with Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is said to have no travel history.
The three others are returnees currently undergoing quarantine at Saikot Government HS and Sielmat CQC.
The one from Saikot, a Delhi returnee, was ahead of the test shifted to District Hospital Isolation ward as he had developed symptoms, according to a statement issued by the District Surveillance Officer (DSO).
The other two from Sielmat CQC are returnees of Uttarakhand and J&K, it added.
With today's 13 new cases from the district, Churachandpur's Covid-19 tally now stands at 241 - 147 male and 94 females.
The active cases, as per the DSO's report however is 87 with 154 of them having recovered.
The district police on the other hand continue to strictly enforce the lockdown with 53 people penalized for violating Covid-19 guidelines today.
