COVID-19 outbreak: IPSA reiterates support to lockdown

The International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) has once again reiterated all to strictly follow lockdown and COVID safety guidelines.
Expressing concern over the growing number of COVID-19 cases due to local transmission, IPSA urged all to be more careful and observe precautionary measures so as to avert the disease from engulfing the whole State.
It is high time for all to work collectively and responsibly, said IPSA in a statement while appealing to all concerned to ascertain whether the outbreak has attained community transmission phase and to take up all related measures before the situation gets out of hand.
IPSA also appealed to all local clubs to join hands with the Government in enforcing the complete lockdown and ensure no person, except the essential ones, come out from their residences.
IPSA at the same time urged the Government to chalk out a policy to ensure an adequate supply of food and other essential commodities.
Appealing all to exercise regularly at their respective homes rather than coming out on roads, IPSA said that there would be no significance of observing complete lockdown if people started roaming on roads for the sake of maintaining fitness.
IPSA has learnt that staff, mainly those belonging to private hospitals, are not provided adequate safety gears including PPE, triple-layered medical masks, gloves, goggles, face shields, sanitizer etc, the statement said will appealing concerned hospital authorities to consider their plights and do the needful at the earliest.
The association also appealed to the private hospital authorities not to charge 'unreasonable' fees from patients.
IPSA also appealed to all local shop-owners, wholesalers to avoid unnecessary price hike and landlords not to rent houses/rooms to non locals.
In view of the closure of rented shops, all landlords should exempt monthly rent from all affected, it continued and drew the attention of the Government run Co-Operative Banks, local money lenders not to collect loans and interest since the prolonged lockdown has left many jobless and helpless.
