A six-member team led by PWD Chief Engineer inspected a site at a border town Mao-gate along the NH-2 which is prone to landslide.
The site is located right in the middle of the cold hill station border town along the main lifeline of Manipur NH-2.According to the locals, if the site sinks further, the lifeline will be cut off as there is no alternate route to reach Manipur especially for heavy vehicles importing goods.
The high-level team led by the PWD Chief Engineer as Chairperson visited the site to analyse the causes through technical examinations, soil testing, technical analysis and other preventive measures.
Its constituent members included General Manager, NHIDCL, Director, GSI State unit Nagaland & Imphal, Director, MARSAC, Science & Technology, Govt of Manipur, Professor Arun Kumar, Earth & Science Department, MU, and AK RanjitKumar Singh, DRO, R&DM, Manipur.
SDO Song Song, Duna Duo who accompanied the team with local leaders stated that the team minutely studied the sinking area to recommend further course of action and remedial measures.
The said team will address the technical issues and submit a report within 3 weeks.
