State govt challenges Court order: Medical Entrance Results scandal

Imphal, July 27 2012:
Notwithstanding the order of Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench, quashing the revised result lists dated June 22 and 23, 2012 of the recently conducted MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination-2012 and the directive for issuing a new revised list for admission of selected candidates within seven days, the State government has filed a Writ appeal in the High Court to challenge the said order.
According to official source, the Writ appeal was filed jointly by Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Manipur and Director of Health Services.
Apart from filing the Writ appeal, the duo has also submitted a written application to the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court to bring up the appeal in an appropriate Division Bench in the absence of Justice Tayenjam Nandakumar.
The decision to file a Writ appeal was reportedly taken in the Cabinet meeting convened on July 23 .
The Cabinet also advised the State Health Department for doing the needful in this regard.
Accordingly, the Health Department filed the Writ appeal.
The order to quash the revised lists dated June 22 and 23, 2012 of the MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination-2012 results and the directive to issue a new revised list for admission of selected candidates within seven days was given by the Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench on July 22 following a writ petition filed jointly by Rajkumari Geeta of Uripok Sinam Leikai, Urikhimbam Sumparity of Lilong Chajing Karam Awang Leikai, Malemkhombi Loukrakpam of Moirangkampu Sajeb Mayai Leikai, Thongam Johnson of Heinoubok Mamang Leikai, Aeungovin Huirem of Samurou Awang Leikai and Irungbam Famous of Khundrakpam Mayai Leikai against the Principal Secretary/ Commissioner/ Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Manipur; Director of Health Services, Government of Manipur and the General Manager/Chairman/Managing Direstor/ Executive Director of M/S Exxom Automation Pvt Ltd, Mumbai, India.
