Ukhrul, October 25 2009:
For the first time in Ukhrul district, a doctor of Comprehensive Health Services and Research Centre (CHSARC) has successfully operated a pregnant woman and removed a 24 cm x 22cm tumour weighing 11 kg here yesterday evening.
Dr Nelson Vashum, who operated Elvinah Zimik wife of Soreingam Zimik of Razai village said that this is the first time that such a huge tumour has been removed from a pregnant woman in the district.

The doctor further said that the tumour was found growing from the left ovary and provisionally diagnosed as Muceinous cyptic, usually begun, but partially malign. The baby boy was born weighing 3.5 kg.
