Imphal, January 19 2016:
It's not a tradition of any major community of Manipur to look down upon minority communities and they should never do so, stated Chief Minister O Ibobi while calling upon all communities to respect each other and live as one.
He was speaking at the golden jubilee cum 46th general conference of the Koren (Koireng) Youth Organisation
(KYO) at Longa Koireng village under Saitu Assembly Constituency today.
Apart from unveiling a golden jubilee pillar, the Chief Minister also released a souvenir.
Presentation of folk music and dance added an atmosphere of gaiety to the event.

Speaking at the gathering, Ibobi remarked that Koireng community can never be termed a minority community though their population is lesser than some other communities of the State.
There is no segregation between minorities and majorities among different communities of Manipur and all are Manipuris, said Ibobi.
It has never been a tradition of any majority community to look down upon minority communities and they should never do so.
"We should never forget that we are all one", Ibobi asserted.
It is a matter of pride that Koireng community has been successfully preserving their distinct culture, faith and dialect.
Nobody has the right to raise any objection when people adopt faiths of their own choices.
But it would be a fatal mistake to assume that people are different just because their religions/faiths are different.
People should appeal in unison to all anti-social elements not to disturb public tranquillity under any circumstances.
Asserting that violence cannot bring any sort of solution, the Chief Minister stated all differences can be resolved through peaceful dialogue.
The Government too has been working in a transparent manner, he claimed.
Due measures would be initiated soon to repair Imphal- Saikul road.
A PHC would be opened at Longa Koireng and a doctor would be posted at the PHC, the Chief Minister declared.
IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip remarked that cel- ebrating the golden jubilee was a historic event for Longa Koireng.
Observing that Koireng community is not a big community, Ngamthang asserted that majority communities should never create troubles for minority communities and they should be allowed to protect their identity.
Lauding Koireng people as a peace-loving community, he appealed to all to foster the idea of peace and brotherhood among all communities of Manipur .
