Imphal, January 19 2016:
Women vendors of Ima Keithel No 4 (Temporary market) have pledged support to the stir launched against setting up of temporary market sheds at Thangal bazar.
Ima Keithel No 4 (Temporary market) secretary Nongthombam Ibemhal while speaking to reporters questioned the Government why they are taking the suggestions from two Ima Keithel vendor leaders Rani and Pakpi alone instead of considering the collective voice of the public.
Maintaining that it is wrong to provide vending space at the busy Thangal bazar area, Ibemhal said that people may face lots of inconvenience even loss of many lives if disasters like fire break out at the area.
Saying that the Government can always look for less congested areas, she said that the temporary markets can be constructed at the old Assembly complex as well.
Ibemhal said that the women vendors of Ima Keithel No 4 (Temporary market) would support all the agitations launched against providing temporary vending space at Thangal bazar.
She said that Chief Minister Okram Ibobi must now realise that his move was wrong and public are againstsuch a wrong decision.
Ibemhal also said that she is ready to discuss the matter with the Government.
On the other hand, Nupi Keithel Sinpham Amadi Shaktam Kanba Lup has demanded an apology from TAKDO for the 'unfounded' allegations levelled against vice president of Nupi Keithel Shemgat Shagat Lup, RK Radhesana over an incident which occurred at the residence of Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykishan on January 16, reports Newmai News Network.
"We'll not allow her being made a scapegoat," she pledged.
She also warned of serious consequences if any harsh decision is taken against Radhesana who is a Thangmeiband resident.
President of the organisation, Thoudam Shanti said the decision of the Government is right and added that Thangal market is suitable for the temporary arrangement for the Khwairamband market vendors.
The Government has taken the step to accommodate some 2000 women vendors of Khwairamband Ima Keithel after the January 4 earthquake damaged buildings of Laxmi Market and New Market.
