Moreh, December 14 2012:
, Dec 14: Even as renovation work of Imphal-Moreh stretch of NH-2 including filling of potholes, has been going on in full swing ahead of the ASEAN-India Car rally, many people of Chandel district and Moreh area have raised concern over the conduct of the authority in maintaining the highway stretch.
Prior to the first ASEAN-India Car rally in 2004, the Government had repaired the Imphal-Moreh stretch of NH-2 .
Visibly, the conditions of the roads around Moreh and the highway that connects the border town remained unchanged during these eight years gap.
The condition of Lokchao-Moreh stretch of the highway remained neglected this time around too although renovation of other parts of the highway is almost finalised.
Many citizens of the district and area have drawn the attention of the authority concerned to take the matter of constructing the highway seriously and to desist from resorting to cosmetic beautification of the highway in the wake of ASEAN-India car rally.
