Training programme on reproductive efficiency of dairy cattle held

A one day training programme for professional on 'Augmenting reproductive efficiency of dairy cattle and Mithun with special reference to health' organised by Directorate of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Manipur was held today at the conference hall of State Veterinary council, Sanjenthong.
As chief guest of the inauguration programme Joint Director of ICAR Manipur Centre Dr N prakash suggested that cattle farmers try their hands at rearing Mithun as the bovine species provides more benefits than the common cattle.
Compared to the common cattle such as cows and buffaloes, Mithuns provide more quantities of milk, said the chief guest while expressing concern that Mithun population is rapidly declining in its natural habitat in the hill areas.
exuding confidence that resource persons attending the training programme will be highlighting more benefits of rearing Mithuns, Dr Prakash called upon veterinarians to contribute their mite in not only preventing cattle diseases but also in enhancing cattle population for abundant milk and meat productions.
In his presidential address, Director (V&AH) Dr Saidokhum Joute called upon the training programme participants, comprising of veterinary doctors and department personnel, to translate gains from the training into development of cattle farming in the State.
As resource persons, Principal Scientist, NRC on Mithun Dr KK Baruah elaborated on 'Strategies for augmenting reproductive efficiencies in dairy cattle and Mithun', while his scientist colleagues Dr S Mukherjee deliberated on 'Perspectives of cattle breeding in India and strategies of Mithun genetic improvement' and Dr V Singh on 'Epidemiology of animal diseases in NER: Perspectives and strategies' .
