Jiribam, December 14 2012:
The only Hospital of Jiribam SubDivision is facing acute problem to meet the needs of public due to the alleged negligence of higher authorities.
The hospital is in a deteriorating state due to reported dearth of doctors, ministerial staff, nurses and other necessary equipments.
It was reported that on June 7 this year, few staff including two microcopists were suspended.
The two replacement staff are being utilized at CMO Imphal.
There are 6 (Six) doctors including ayush and dental each.Out of which only the in-charge is at the station running 24/7 on duty. There are two ambulances of this hospital.
However, the ambulances are laid in the garage for the last many months due to unavailability of driver.
The hospital authority refers several cases to nearby hospitals in Silchar as there is no any specialist doctor.
In the mean time those patients are unable to carry due to not providing ambulance by the hospital for the common people.
Meanwhile, some public complained that, doctor sent patients to go to a particular room for blood test which is not a laboratory, again the attendant advised to go to a clinic outside.
Apparently, there is some business going on in the hospital by some employees for their personal benefit.
When contacted Dr Sudipta Deb, In-Charge of the Jiribam hospital, said he had sent many letters and reminders to the concerned authority to fill the vacant posts but no any action has been taken up by the higher authorities he said.
