Imphal, November 12 2008:
Decrying failure of the State Government to take up necessary action against Chairman, Secretary and Controller of Examination of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) in connection with alleged corrupt practices in the conduct of the Old Course Matric Examination, volunteers of AMSU and DESAM today put locks on the office rooms of the three Board officials.
The locks were, however, broken and the rooms thrown open by the police later during the day.
Talking to mediapersons after locking up the three office rooms at the head office of DESAM here today, secretary general of DESAM Y Ratan asserted that the volunteers of AMSU and DESAM have been compelled to lock up the office rooms of the Chairman, Secretary an Controller of Examination of the Board as the State Govt has failed to take up necessary action against the three officials inspite of their corrupt practices in the conduct of the Old Course Matriculation examination.
In case, Govt continues to neglect the demands placed before it, then AMSU and DESAM would have no option other than launch more intense agitation, Ratan forewarned.
Reiterating the stand of the two student bodies over the issue, Ratan said in complete disregard of the earlier agreement on not allowing 2764 students who have used fake documents to appear in the Old Course Matriculation Examination, the Board officials indulged in corrupt practices and gave them clean chit.
The State Government should initiate necessary action against such corrupt officials in the interest of developing the standard of education in the State.
Otherwise, AMSU and DESAM may be compelled to launch more intense agitations, he said.
