A three day School Teachers Training Programme on Value Based Education and HIV/AIDS has been kicked in the conference hall of New Airlines here today.
The programme being held under the aegis of the Christian AIDS/HIV National Alliance (CANA) would impart training to teachers of Christian schools only.
On the inaugural day today, Principals of ten selected Christian schools were given training on the topic today.
Talking about the training programme, CANA officer Vinita Bahadur said that the programme is a part of its pilot project aimed at providing value based eduction on HIV/AIDS in Christian schools.
Under the pilot project, value based education on HIV/AIDS would be included in the school curriculum of classes VII to XII from 2009 session, she said.
For Manipur, the project would be implemented in 10 Christian schools in the first year.
Under the project, students reading in classes VII to XII will be taught on HIV/AIDS, physical changes of adolescent/teenage boys and girls, socialisation, reproductive health of boys and girls, hygiene, drugs and alcohol abuse, sexually transmitted diseases etc, Vinita Bahadur said.
