Imphal, November 12 2008:
THE THREE-DAY 22nd Manipur University Inter College Youth Festival 2008, with the theme, "Youth for Social Transformation" has begun today with a formal inaugural ceremony held at the Centenary Hall of the MU at Canchipur.
Manipur Assembly Speaker Dr S Budhichandra was the chief guest, Vice Chancellor of MU Prof Ch Amuba who was the president, Dean of Students' Welfare, MU, Prof Md Islamudin, a president of MU Students' Union (MUSU) Ksh Narayan and cultural co-ordinator of the festival, Dr S Jibonkumar were the guests of honor at the inaugural ceremony.

The opening function of the festival was marked by a march past which took off from the MU Students' Home to the Centenary Hall by contingents of students from different colleges of the state.
Dr S Budhichandra hoisted the flag of the festival.While giving his speech as chief guest, Budhichandra said that university is the temple of learning and from this institution prominent leaders of the future are to be brought out.
Manipur is a land where different communities residing together, he observed while asking the students to break the differences among the community and maintain harmony.
Only when peace and prosperity will witness in the state, he said.
He also expressed the need of discipline for co-existence Bushichandra said keeping well discipline among the students communities will enhance the quality of being an ideal student.
Vice Chancellor, C Amuba while giving his speech said that during the student, a man future life should be made.
Education is the means to challenge all the difficulties coming ahead of a man's life.
He also hoped that form the festival students will get lot of experiences which can share by the participant students to other students after they back to their respective colleges.
During the festival, students of different colleges will compete in different items like in fine arts, music, literacy events and theatres.
