The inaugural function of the newly constructed SDO office and Community hall of Nungba Sub Division was held today with Chief Minister O Ibobi and Power Minister Gaikhangam as the chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the Chief Minister said that proposal to upgrade the Nungba Sub Divisional Hqs to the status of an urban town has been put forward before the Cabinet and discussed thoroughly by the Cabinet so as to enable the people of the area to enjoy maximum benefits from the State Govt and added that the Govt has already taken up necessary steps to ascertain the exact number of population and villages located under Nungba Sub Division besides seeking the opinion of the Hills Areas Committee's officials on the issue.
Informing that State Govt has plans to upgrade all the Sub Divisional Hqs located in the hills in a phase wise manner and also provide basic infrastructure to the people, he said that the Govt is also paying special attention to usher in development to the remote areas of the Hill dists so as to bring the people of these regions at parwith the rest of the people.
The Chief Minister also appealed to the people of Nungba to identify the inter villages roads which need to be repaired at the earliest and inform it to the Govt so that repairing works can be taken up within a short span of time and further urged the people to extend all possible cooperation to all the developmental works taken up in the area by the Govt.As part of the programme, the Chief Minister distributed red blankets and rice under the Annapurna Scheme to the people.
It may be noted here that the newly inaugurated SDO office had been constructed with funds from the Additional Central Assistant of the Indian Govt while the community hall has been constructed at the cost of Rs 14 lakhs provided by Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing and Power Minister Gaikhangam from their respective the Local Area Development Fund.
