Being cautious only way to stay safe: Ng Uttam

Observing that the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic is more infectious and deadlier than the first wave experienced last year, social welfare director and State Committee on Covid Care member Ng Uttam has said that taking extreme precaution and following the relevant SOPs strictly are the only ways to prevent Covid-19 infection.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle, Ng Uttam noted that the more infectious and deadlier nature of the second wave is known to all.
The total death toll from Covid-19 in the state was 405 till April 30 while 207 people have died from May 1 to 18 .
In short, the number of fatalities reported in the last 18 days has exceeded half of the fatalities reported in the last one year.
Considering this fact, it is very important to stay alert and follow the relevant SOPs in order to stay safe from the virus, he said.
While urging for using face masks and hand sanitisers as well as maintaining social distancing, the social welfare director called upon the people of the state to join hands in defeating the virus.
