Imphal, May 19 2021:
The government of Manipur has issued an order restricting use of sirens of ambulances.
In a memorandum issued by health director Dr K Rajo, all chief medical officers, medical superintendents, staff of private hospitals and ambulance operators have been instructed to "silence sirens as they are panicking people and causing social anxiety".
The decision was made considering all roads are empty and there is no traffic with limited activities being allowed amid the ongoing curfew.
However, if the roads are blocked, sirens should be activated, added the memorandum which is an apparent bid to reduce anxiety and panic amid the gloom casts by COVID-19 second wave in the state.
