Noney's Dolang village fully vaccinated against Covid

In Noney district, Dolang has become the first fully vaccinated village against COVID-19.Inhabited by Chiru tribe, Dolang village has 273 households with a total population of 1,139 .
Out of the total population, the total number of people fully vaccinated is 765 18 years and above).
According to Dolang Village Authority chairman Alen Thoitak, the village was able to immunise 100 per cent of its adult population on July 27 during mass vaccination drive.
Out of 765 people vaccinated, 236 are in the age group of 45 years and above while 529 are in the 18-plus age group.
Now only 374 people who are under 18 years are left unvaccinated.
The district administra tion in collaboration of the district health society on Tuesday organised an event to congratulate Dolang Village Authority at the DCs Office for achieving 100 per cent COVID-19 vaccination of the village's adults.
Noney DC Robert Singh Khestrimayum handed over a certificate with cash incentive to Dolang Village Authority and COVID Task Force Committee.
The event was also attended by Alen Thoitak, Noney CMO Dr Edwin Golmei, DIO Dr Jendum Golmei, SDO Namlalung Gangmei, Village Authority leaders and other officials.
During his speech, the DC said that every eligible person of Noney district should be vaccinated against COVID-19 without delay because only vaccination and adherence to CAB can protect people from the dreaded disease, adding, "Let every village of the district focuses on vaccination and becomes a role model like Dolang village" .
While urging all to shed vaccine hesitancy and not to believe in rumours, the Noney DC informed that the vaccination drive targets to reach 80 per cent by the end of August, adding that Noney district has so far inoculated 45 per cent of its population.
Chairman of Dolang village Authority, Alen Thoitak thanked the district administration and the district health society for recognising their effort in the fight against the COVID pandemic.
He encouraged other villages to cooperate in ensuring a conducive environment for conducting vaccination drive and become a COVID-free village.
Alen also appealed to govt to expedite the process for vaccination of U-18 age group before the outbreak of third wave Covid-19 pandemic.
