Lions Club Imphal distributes rice

Imphal, January 23 2022:
As a part of the "Relieving the Hunger" under One Multiple One Activity of Lions Clubs International, the Lions Club of Imphal (LCI) in association with Lions Club of Imphal North and Northern Hemisphere distributed rice to residents of Awang Ngairangbam in Imphal East district in a programme held at the local community hall.
In a release, LCI marketing and communication Manas Maisnam informed that 7 kg of rice for each family was distributed to 80 families of the village.
Speaking on the occasion, GST co-ordinator, Manipur W Bhaktaraj expressed that "Relieving the Hunger" is one of the permanent projects of Lions Clubs International.
Melvin Jones, who is the founder of Lions Club was born on January 13, 1879 and hence the Lions Clubs in 210 nations donate food items to the needy, starting from January 13 to 31, under this project, he added.
As a part of the programme, District 322D vice-district governor-I (Dr) W Gopimohan said that the objective of Lions Club is to serve the humanity irrespective of caste, creed, gender or religion.
During the time of calamities or any medical emergency Lions Club is always ready to help, he assured.
During the programme also attended by LCI president I Gojendra, secretary Th Nitish and other members, volunteers of Awang Ngairangbam Youth Club, who arranged the programme were presented with good quality face shields.
