Cell to monitor kids mooted

An online consultation on "Health and wellbeing of children and adolescents in Covid-19 pandemic" was organised by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on Thursday.
The consultation was held with the participation of chairperson of Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR); representatives from State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCRs) with experts from Indian Academy of Paediatrics, RBSK-MOH&FW, NIMHANS, ICMR, Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), and National Neonatology Forum (NNF), a press release of MCPCR said.
The participants deliberated on the preventive aspects to be undertaken to monitor and mitigate the risk factors for children in the projected third wave of COVID-19 and its double mutant and various strains.
Among various strategies discussed during the virtual meeting were to request respective state governments to form an advisory and monitoring cell to look into COVID 19 related matters among children with the cell having a paediatrician among its members; Dedicated Covid Care Health Centres (DCCHC) for children in each district; adequate facilities for treatment of COVID-19 infected children in all district hospitals; facilities of tele-counselling on COVID from experts such as paediatrician/psychiatrist/psychologist for the general public, the release added.
