Bhabananda takes oath as Rajya Sabha member

Kshetrimayum Bhabananda Singh took oath as Rajya Sabha member in New Delhi yesterday.
Officials said Bhabananda was administered oath as member of the Upper House by Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari in the Parliament House.
Bhabananda, 57, took oath in Manipuri during the ceremony which was attended by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and other ministers.
Manipur unit BJP president Kshetrimayum Bhabananda Singh was elected as a Rajya Sabha member in the by-election held at the state assembly on May 25 .
The by-election was necessitated following the death of Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Haji Abdul Salam on February 28.Salam was the first Manipuri Muslim to be a member of Rajya Sabha from Manipur.
Bhabananda Singh had joined BJP in 1995 and held a responsible post right from the Booth Level to State Level and has been actively participating in the party related activities.
He studied in Sainik School, Goalpara, Assam from 1969- 1976 and graduated with English Honours from Hansraj College, Delhi in 1980 and he is also a graduate in LLB from Manipur University and is also a registered Advocate of the Bar Council of India, NE region from 1999 .
