SENAPATI-Twenty three year old Miss Nothono Kraho of Nagaland's commercial hub Dimapur,was crowned the first Seven Sisters Miss Barak 2008 contest in a colourful beauty pageant, defeating 14 other beauties, held in Manipur's Senapati district headquarter, 60 km north of state capital late last night.
Along with the title, Miss Nothono bagged the cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.This new Miss Barak who once works as an airhostess in Indigo airlines is the second daughter of an Angami IPS officer (Retired) Mr Holto of Chumukedima, the end point of NH 39's hill section in Nagaland.
Miss Elileno Tsukru of Kohima walked away with first runner up title with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 while Anita Lama,also from Kohima got the second runner up title having a cash prize of Rs 30,000 .
The event was organized at the football ground of Senapati town with the theme Peace through Culture and Identity under the aegis of Youth Hope Foundation.
Mani Charenamei, Manipur's lone Lok Sabha member from outer parliamentary constituency was the chief guest of the beauty pageant.
Manipur MLA Awangbou Newmai of Tamei assembly constituency under Tamenglong district and prominent poumai leader Loli Adanee who had contested the last Lok Sabha poll attended as guests as well.
Maharajah of Tripura who was supposed to attend the beauty pageant as the chief guest failed to turn up for the contest.
