Violent group clash recurred today at Naharup Makha Pat under Irilbung police station after two houses were burnt down over a land row couple of days back at the locality.
According to report, the clash occurred between two groups of the locality this evening around 7.42 when some persons accused of involving in the burning down of two houses on April 22 went to a shop located adjacent to the Elangbam Kollup to buy some stuffs.
Heated arguments between the shop owners and the shoppers ensued when the shop owner told the clients that the stuff they were asking for is not there.
The frenzied exchange of words took greater height and incited both the groups to clash when a group of people fired licensed gun in the locality, the report said.
Police personnel were prompted to open blank fire to take control of the area and contain the clash between the two groups.
No report of casualty has been received however.
The report said that six families including two of them whose houses had been burnt down on April 22 were camped at a club ground near the Naharup Thongjao.
It may be mentioned that two houses belonging to Elangbam Ibobi (55) and Saikhom Gulamjat (70) were burnt down during a group clash involving the local club and Elangbam Kollup of the locality over a land dispute.
