MU must follow Gazette notification strictly: ATSUM

Concerned over the press statement issued by JSCC and MUSC & OBC Union regarding the Central Education Institute (Reservation in Admission) Amendment Act-2012, All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) today said that Manipur University must follow the Gazette notification firmly.
The apex tribal students' led by Emboi Serto as president pointed out that in Manipur Scheduled tribal constituted around 43% of the total population while the Scheduled Caste about 2.5% only and for the past many years Meeteis have enjoyed maximum seats due to following of the central reservation norms whether they are General, OBC or SC.
The tribals which constituted some 43% are left with just 7.5% .
He also recalled that ATSUM in 2009 met former HRD Minister Kapil Sibal who assured that state reservation policy will be followed in every central institute of the North Eastern states.
