Seminar on agrotextiles held

Imphal, February 04 2015:
A one-day seminar on the usage of agrotextiles product for increasing productivity and bringing improvement in the cultivation of crops particularly vegetables and fruit bearing trees by ensuring protection from diseases, adverse climatic conditions and ecological imbalance was held at the training hall of Krishi Vigyan Bhavan, Thoubal on Tuesday last.
The seminar which was attended by 102 farmers was jointly organised by Textile Commissioner, Govern-ment of Manipur; COE-Agrotech, SASMIRA and KVK, Thoubal under the sponsorship of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
Many resource persons spoke on different topics related to agrotextiles, like the usage of agrotextiles products, the advantages of using these products, methods, techniques and purpose for using them, and how the farmers can avail agrotextiles schemes.
Prominent resource persons included scientists from COE-Agrotech, SASMIRA, Mumbai, RP Singh, Ayub Shaikh, Md Afzal; professor of CAU, Iroishemba, W Ingo Meetei; programme coordinator of KVK, Thoubal, Dr M Thoithoi; and progressive farmers from Thoubal districts namely Lukhoi from Wabagai, Rajendra from Laphupat Tera among others.
