Senapati, February 04 2015:
United Naga Council (UNC) has strongly condemned and seriously questioned the "irresponsible and immature behaviour" of 24 Assam Rifles for "caging" villagers of Tengnoupal Block from 6 pm to 5 am and for forcing commuters along Imphal-Moreh to wait for several hours.
Every right thinking citizens should also condemn the acts of AR as there was no room for "martial law in any democratic countries," said UNC in a press note.
UNC termed the treatment meted out to the people by AR as inhuman and deliberate attempts to torture innocent civilians.
The people of the Northeast particularly the Nagas have faced enough "cruelties" in the past, pointed out UNC.
The council said security forces had been equipped with the "internationally condemned draconian act" like AFSPA to suppress the "Naga National Movement for Independence,"
"Days of violence and bloodshed will not be tolerated," asserted UNC.
