Don Bosco Quiz book released

Kohima, September 19 2014 : In a glittering ceremony, Rev.Fr.Nestor Guria, SDB, head of the Salesian Province of Dimapur, released a book entitled Don Bosco Quiz (DBQ), at Don Bosco Hr.

School, Kohima.

Present for the occasion were Fr.Bosco Perianayagam (Vice Provincial), Fr.Palely Jose (Provincial Economer), Fr.Panipitchai Dennis (DBHSS Principal), Fr.Ranjan Toppo (Vice Principal), Salesian Cooperators, DB Alumni, parents, teachers and students representatives as well as all the teachers and students of DBHSS, Kohima.

The DBQ contains 1,000 questions and answers on St.

John Bosco (better known as Don Bosco), a 19th century Catholic priest from Italy who loved youth ardently and invented an educational system for them based on reason, religion and love.

To continue his work for youth he founded the Salesian Congregation which today has over 15,400 followers working for youth in 132 countries of the world.

Don Bosco was born on 16 August 1815 at Becchi in North Italy and died on 31 January 1888.To mark the 200th anniversary of his birth on 16 August 2015, a year-long commemoration labeled as Bicentenary celebration was launched on 16 August 2014 in all the Don Bosco institutions in 132 countries of the globe.

It may be recalled that in Don Bosco Provincial House, Dimapur, the province level bicentenary celebrations were inaugurated by Rev.Fr.Nestor Guria sdb in the presence of Mr..V.ZAngami (SP Dimapur) and a large gathering of Salesians and members of the Salesian Family.

The DBQ was prepared by the Bicentenary planning committee, Dimapur Province, and forms part of the Bicentenary competitions: Cultural Dance, Choir ( song on Don Bosco), Skit (on DB), Speech (on DB), Thematic Dance, and Choreography (on Gospel songs) .

The Quiz competition at the school level will be conducted for two groups: 1.Classes 6 � 12 (Hr.

Sec.

School level) and 2.Classes 1 � 5 (Junior School level).

All students from classes 1 � 12 studying in Salesian schools in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland and Upper Assam are encouraged to participate in this mega DB Quiz competition and learn something about this great lover of youth, St.

John Bosco.

The participants can purchase a copy of the DBQ at Rs.20.00 only from their own schools.

Five prizes will be awarded at the State/Regional level competition: 1st Prize � Rs.25,000, 2nd Prize � Rs.20,000, 3rd Prize � Rs.15,000, 4th Prize � Rs.10,000 and 5th Prize � Rs.5,000.At the Province level DB Quiz competition three prizes will be awarded to the winners: 1st Prize � Rs.40,000, 2nd Prize � Rs.30,000 and 3rd Prize � Rs.20,000 .

There will be a separate DB Quiz competition for college students of Don Bosco College Maram, Salesian College Dimapur, Bosco College Dimapur, Bosco Institute Jorhat, Don Bosco College Itanagar, selected candidates from Salesian Novitiate (Zubza), FMA Novitiate (Kohima) and MSMHC Novitiate (Dimapur).

Three prizes are reserved for them: 1st Prize � Rs.20,000, 2nd Prize � Rs.15,000 and 3rd Prize � Rs.10,000 .
