Imphal, July 12 2018:
With 14 posts of SDC lying vacant under the Revenue Department, administrative authorities as well as the public have been experiencing a lot of inconveniences.
The 14 posts of SDC have been left vacant after the SDCs posted in different districts were promoted to the rank of MCS.
The order for promotion of the 14 SDCs were issued on March 23 this year and they were given their new postings on May 16, informed a source.
The post of SDC is a key post in Revenue Department for it is the SDCs who submit field reports regarding all land disputes, evictions and other such cases.
DCs and SDOs take up necessary actions based on the field reports submitted by SDCs.
Even though it has been several months, no one has been posted to the 14 posts of SDC.
Nonetheless, the post of Sub-Registrar, Imphal West was filled up recently by a draw of lot among officers eligible for the post at the office of Revenue Minister Karam Shyam.
The State Government's Go to Village mission has also been hampered by the 14 vacant posts of SDC, said a source.
