Imphal, May 31 2010:
At least 40 goods laden trucks and nine passenger buses have neen stranded at Jiribam while around 300 goods laden trucks bound for Imphal are stranded at Lalpani and Labankhan in Cachar district of Assam.
The stranded vehicles which are waiting to be escorted are being provided security by troops of 5 AR posted at Lalpani, reports our correspondent.
Meanwhile, all kinds of vehicular movement along NH-53 have been paralysed due to the total bandh called by the Zeliangrong Students' Union in Tamenglong district against the firing at villagers by State forces at Lukhambi village near Noney on May 28 .
However, there is no report of untoward incidents till the time of filing this report.
