Identity of the ten personnel of Territorial Army (TA) and one CRPF personnel who lost their lives in a road accident near Kotlien along NH-53 yestedray have been established.
A fitting military tribute is scheduled to be paid to the departed souls at Tulihal airport tomorrow morning.
On the other hand, the bodies of the three IRB personnel who were also killed in another road mishap at Awang Potsangbam have been handed over to their respective family members.
Ten personnel of the 165th TA and one CRPF personnel lost their lives when the truck in which they were travelling fell into a gorge near Kotlien yesterday afternoon.
The truck was a part of a security convoy which had left from Imphal.
The ten deceased TA personnel have been identified as havildar Krishna Dutta (40) of Komar Khotul village in Jorhat district of Assam; Havildar Ram Dutt (40) of Khasara village under Hardoi district of UP, Lance Naik L Romen (23) of Uchathol in Jiribam, Sepoy Royal Gangmei (24) of Noney in Tamenglong district, Sepoy Lianzamuan (25) of Sangtal in Churachandpur district, Sepoy Thanding (22) of Mualkul in Churachandpur, Sepoy Kh Bijen (25) of Kakching Khunou in Thoubal district, Sepoy N Birbal (23) of Heirok-II in Thoubal district, Sepoy Holngam Khongsai (25) of Hengken in Churachandpur and Sepoy AS Thotreishang (25) of Leishipung in Senapati district while the deceased CRPF personnel was Md Akbar Khan, who was a cook in the 69th Bn.
The post-mortem examination of the bodies have been conducted at RIMS today and the same handed over to the respective authorities for despatching to their respective native places.
Meanwhile, the bodies of 4th IRB Riflemen namely Chingakham Romesh (30), Khwairakpam Bisheshore (30) and Mangsatabam Sanjoy (28) who also lost their lives in an another road mishap at Potsangbam Khullen Lamkhai yesterday afternoon have been handed over to their respective families after postmortem examination at RIMS today.
