Field Day on Groundnut held at Chandel district

The Field Day on Groundnut under Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) through All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Soil Test Crop Response (STCR) organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Chandel District was held today at Mantri Pantha Community Hall in Chandel district.
KVK Chandel Programe Coordinator GP Kabui and Dr Sarkar addressed the gathering the farmers on the advantage of cultivating Groundnut to other cash Crops.
According to GP Kabui, the programme was organized to improve the performance of the Groundnut production of the area and said that Ground nut cultivation can fetch better income for the farmers.
He encouraged the farmers to go for Cultivation as the soil of Chandel is suitable to the improved variety of Groundnut ICGS -76 .
As a part of the programme, all the farmers were taken to one of the Ground nut demo plot where the farmers and the subject matters specialist interacted.
During the interaction, Ws Angthung, a farmer, disclosed that during the last crop season he was able to fetch an income of Rs 80,000 from cultivating groundnut and he is expecting more than Rs 2 lakhs this time.
