The Chin National Front (CNF) is likely to convene the Chin National Conference in the second week of November at Hakka Township of Chin state, Myammar.
according to a CNF source, the Central Committee for the Conference was constituted on August 19 at Yangon and comprises five members from CNF, 12 from Chin National University Students and 10 from different Chin national political parties.
The Central Committee will look into all aspects of the conference such as forming sub-committee on programme, media, etc.
Social and economic issues of Chin are likely to dominate the conference besides 'Peace Agreement' signed between the Government of Myanmar and Chin National Front, said the source while adding that CNF has been consulting people in different places since signing of the agreement with the Government.
The source also conveyed that the first Chin National Conference was held on February 20, 1948 in Falam township whereas in 1988 a border town between India and Myanmar hosted the second conference, under the aegis of Chin National Council.
The Chin National Conference day has no relation or connection with the so called Zomi National Day, claimed the CNF source adding that while preparation for the Conference is under process, the Zomis under Zomi Council are convening the Third World Zomi Convention at Lamka in Manipur inviting intellectuals, leaders of Zo descendants across the globe.
"Chin and Zomi will never come together under one roof anymore", added the CNF source.
