Chandel, November 19 2013:
Anal Naga NagaTangpi (ANTA) has denounced the office memorandum No 3/1/Misc/2008-Com (Rev) Pt, Dated Imphal the 15th June 2013, for excluding Chandel along with two other districts namely Tamenglong and Ukhrul from the process of computerization of land records and transfer of the same from the directorate of Settlement and land records to the concerned Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, ADC Jiribam and ADC Kangpokpi and stated that the state Government of Manipur particularly Revenue department directly ignored the rightful demands of the Deputy Commissioners and the general public of Chandel seeking transfer of the land records kept in Thoubal to Chandel District.
The press statement issued by its President Wng Kohring Victor, ANTA stated that there is no future for the Tribals under the government of Manipur and recalled that the Revenue department had earlier in its order dated 24 March 2013 included land records of all the hill districts, which are still maintained in the valley districts, to be transferred to the concerned Deputy Commissioner within 30th June 2013.But the present memorandum left out three of the hill districts namely Chandel, Tamenglong and Ukhrul.
The state government has failed to transfer the land records of Chandel which is presently maintained under Thoubal district in spite of repeated requests made to the state revenue department and the Govt by forums of the Civil Societies Organization and Chiefs.
The then DC Chandel H Dileep Singh IAS in his letter No. DC/CDL/4/256/2003/1039 dated the 9th March 2011 had requested the Revenue Commissioner.
However, till date no step has been taken to fulfill the long standing demand of the people, the statement added.
Alleging the state Government of playing unfair means in governance, ANTA further pointed out that Sugnu and Pallel Police Stations which function earlier under the jurisdiction of SP Chandel have been seized and place under Thoubal district.
Unhappy over the apathetic attitude of the state Government and the revenue department ANTA has also threatened to launch intense agitation from first week of December and asked all the Anal Naga Tribe to stay away from participation in the forthcoming Sangai festival.
