LMTL sets sight to make Lamlai self-sufficient

Lamlai Mapari Thougal Lup (LMTL) is working at its best level to make Lamlai area self-sustainable in food production alongside fighting the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a statement of the Lup, around 5000 plants have been successfully planted at different parts under Nongren Chingnungkhok Gram Panchayat ever since COVID-19 pandemic hit the state.
High yielding papaya plants were planted under the keen initiative of political activist Sapam Kangleipal while around 5000 tree bean (Yongchak) saplings have been successfully planted at Laikot Kharam, Phaiyol Khul, Thayong Kom, Tuisenphai, Nongmaiband and Uran Chiru Khul falling under Lamlai assembly constituency and at villages like Kam- bongput Khul and Takhel under Takhel Sanjenbam Gram Panchayat.
The statement released by Lup's general secretary Laishram Bobishana further said that efforts are on to make all the Gram Panchayats in Lamlai AC self-sufficient in food under the initiative of Sapam Kangleipal apart from fighting the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
Yongchak and papaya saplings and other vegetables planted around one month back were inspected on Sunday and Sapam Kangleipal, who was also present during the inspection, assured that farmers of Lamlai area will be financially sound in the coming few years.
He also assured of providing 5000 each papaya and tree bean saplings to farmers who successfully planted the earlier saplings and 5000 saplings of king chilli (U-Morok) to farmers of Tellou Chana Seijang Gram Panchayat.
