Imphal, August 05 2013:
Like every year, the farmers in Manipur have started facing the impact of shortage of fertilizers so much so that even the Agriculture Minister is finding it hard to provide the required fertilizers to the farmers of his own constituency.
According to reports reaching Hueiyen Lanpao, there are only 6,000 bags of fertilizers in the State godown at present.
This has made Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir really hard even to distribute fertilizers to the farmers of his constituency at subsidized rates and farmers have been compelled to get the fertilizers at Rs 450 per bag.
The State Government had earlier announced that the farmers of the State would be supplied fertilizers at a subsidized rate of Rs 287.40.However, the Government is still unable to keep its promises.
On the other hand, the State Government and the fertilizer dealers, instead of coming to terms with each other, are in constant clash with each other and as such the fertilizer dealers have stopped transporting fertilizers into the State from outside.
