A star-shaped structure believed to be of Second World War period has been discovered by the Second World War Imphal Campaign Foundation.
After an aerial photograph taken in 1944 was sent to the foundation by British war historian Christopher Jones, volunteers of the foundation embarked on an exploration tour.
They discovered a star-shaped structure in Imphal East district around 30 Kms away from the State capital, claimed the foundation's co-founder Yumnam Rajeshwar.
The structure is being studied but its exact location would not be disclosed for the time being.
The exact location would be disclosed to the public after ascertaining what exactly it is, Rajeshwar said.
Notably, a similar star-shaped structure was discovered in Bihu paddy fields of Maklang, Imphal West district sometime back subsequent upon which the area was declared protected.
