Imphal, May 31 2015 :
Noting that the right to ownership over Dzuko Valley has created an unpleasant situation and tension between Mao and Angami Yinamei brothers in particular and people of the two States in general, the Zeliangrong Union (AMN) has appealed to the Government of Manipur and the Government of Nagaland to bring an amicable settlement immediately with the help of the Centre before it is too late.
A press release issued by ZU (AMN) general secretary Azang Rongmei remarked that the claims and counter claims over Dzuko Valley are supported by many powerful civil societies and prominent leaders of the two States and their views/opinions may hamper the age old relationship shared between the two neighbouring States.
According to Zeliangrong forefathers and elders living in Yangkhullen village (Senapati district) and Peren sub-division of Nagaland State, a big chunk of Dzuko valley belongs to the Zeliangrong people.
The word Dzuko or Dzukou needs thorough research so as to establish its origin and ultimately the right to ownership over the valley.
It further appealed to Mao and Angami Yinamei brothers to withdraw the drastic measures they have imposed and come together with mutual understanding and respect in the true spirit of Yinamei and solve the differences as early as possible.
If this small piece of Dzuko Valley is going to hamper fraternity between the two communities and create an uncomfortable situation for the two States, then Dzuko Valley should declared as no man's land so that all can enjoy the unique charm of the valley, it added.
