NPF supporters attack Independent candidate's office; four injured

Supporters of Naga People's Front (NPF) attacked the Independent (IND) candidate Thomas Riamei's office and at least four persons sustained injures.
They have been hospitalized at Tamenglong district hospital.
The incident happened at Thiulon village, 8-Saramba DCC Segment under Tousem Sub-Division around 12 noon on Saturday.
NPF supporters numbering around 30 to 40 came and attacked the Independent candidate's Office, informed the police.
The attackers asked the Independent candidate's supporters to cast their votes for the NPF candidate.
It may be mentioned that in 8-Saramba DCC Segment, four candidates are in the fray.
Saul Kamei is contesting on a BJP ticket; Micah Panmei is the NPF candidate; Thomas Riamei and Gonmei Kariaklung are contesting as Independent candidates.

Sources said that two police teams have gone to investigate the incident as a complaint has been lodged by the victims.
Those injured persons are identified as Gainilung (52), son of Late Phungbian of Chramram (Saramba) village; Thiudingpou (50), son of Late Phenrongdi of Thiulon village; Huripan (40), son of Late Phenrongdi of Thiulon village and Dingamlung (25), son of Karamlung of Thiulon village.
Among the injured persons Gainilung (52), son of Late Phungbian of Chramram and Huripan (40), son of Late Phenrongdi of Thiulon village are said to be serious.
They were brought to the District Hospital Tamenglong.
Amidst the tension in the village, there were reports of blank fires by unidentified armed militants, police said.
Meanwhile, Election Steering Committee of Thomas appealed to the authority to control violence in the near future.
The committee also asked the attackers not to repeat the same so as to maintain peaceful atmosphere before the polls.
