PS Haokip reiterates stand of KNO

PS Haokip, president of theThe Kuki National Organisation (KNO), the umbrella body of several Kuki underground organisations said today that stretching from Kachin state of Burma covering up to Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh and Tuensang and Mon districts of the Konyak and Khimnungan region in present-day Nagaland in India, as well as the land of the Heimi people in Myanmar (Burma) to which tribe SS Khaplang, leader of Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K), including Upper Chindwin and Kale Kabow valley in Sagaing Division belong are entirely ethnic Kachin-Kuki inhabited.
The Kachins have always maintained their link through folklore connections with the Kukis, the KNO chief added.
PS Haokip was addressing the 27th KNO Raising Day at Kholmun, Lamka in Churachandpur district of Manipur.
KNO is engaged in Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the Government.
Meanwhile, several Kuki civil organisations, village chiefs and Kuki public leaders participated in today's programme.
"As we celebrate the 27th Kuki National Organisation's Raising Day, first of all, I thank the Almighty God for leading us each step of the way in our collective endeavour to build and strengthen the Kuki nation," PS Haokip said.
"On this occasion, we also remember our colleagues, workers and cadres, who have departed.
We mention in particular the most recently departed Pu Moson UMLA, Pu Marvin KLO/KLA, Pu Ngamthang, Chaplain KNA, Maj Chungkholun KNA, Pu Jangthong, Pu Antone Haokip, Secretary-Home KNO.
We also remember Pu Thangkholun Haokip, the first Commander -in-Chief KNA, Brigadier Vipin Haokip, Chief of Army Staff KNA and others whom we dearly miss," he stated.
The KNO leader then expressed appreciation concerning R Thangmawia, president ZORO's message on the occasion of KNO's 27th Raising Day to encourage our people's movement.
"The 27th Raising Day marks a significant development in our years of endeavour to unite and strengthen our people.
This begins with the word of God Isaiah 54:2: Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations; spare not; lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes," the Kuki leader added.
According to PS Haokip, on November 6, 2012, KNO and UPF had a meeting at Dorcas Hall, New Lamka.
KNO expressed at the meeting the significance of being united through a common objective of consolidating with our own ethnic brethren Mizo and Chin.
In this connection, KNO proposed naming our prospective state Zogam.
KNO also stressed that unification with Chin and Mizo may take a hundred years, but rather than a hundred years, within a span of ten days, Zo Re-Unification Organisation, whose headquarters is in Aizawl, received with great confidence the news of KNO's objective of our ethnic people's unification.
Therefore, following Pu Thangmawia, president of ZORO's initiative, a meeting of KNO and ZORO Northern Zone was held at Thingkangphai, Lamka at the residence of Pu Nehkhojang, Gen Secy Gen Hqs ZORO.
PS Haokip said, at the meeting, based on shared objective of unification, a resolution was taken for a joint meeting of KNO and ZORO.
Within six months of KNO proposal to UPF, on 14 March 2013, ZORO Conference was held at Young Paite Association Hall at Lamka.
Pu R.Thangmawia and I addressed the public gathering on the common objective of our people's unification.
The text of the speeches by president ZORO and president KNO reverberated along the length and breadth of our ethnic nation, leading to our brethren in Chin Hills, Chittagong Hill Tracts, Barak valley in Assam and Tripura supporting the movement of unification.
Most recently, our long-lost brethren in Kachin, whom the good news of unification also reached, invited representatives of ZORO and KNO to the 30th Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi, 12-14 February 2014 at Bordumsa, Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh.
At the celebrations, PS Haokip stated.
