The equipment at JN Hospital for testing the CD count of the HIV/AIDS infected people has been in defunct state for the last five day causing hardship to the people who needed the testing.
Test to 15 to 35 people are regularly conducted in a day during the normal functioning of the machine.
None can tell when the machine repair and resume normal service and relief the HIV patients from the clutch of woe befalling on them.
Dr Kokin, department of microbiology, JN Hospital said higher authority has been informed of the break down of the equipment.
No technician who could repair the break down part available in the state.
Authority is to call a technician from Kolkata.
The technician has been contacted and likely to arrive at Imphal on November 19 .
For the time being, it could not be tell out when the test will resume, he added.
On the other hand, as per the ruling of the Supreme, CD Count should be ensured functioning without a day break, Dr Priyokumar, ART in-charge of the hospital said expressing concern over the five days continuous defunct state the machine in the state.
It is unavoidable to conduct CD count test for the HIV patients.
With the help of the test the status of HIV of a person is to be detected.
If this could not be able, the service of the hospital is all in vain.
In the state, facilities to be provided to the HIV/AIDS positive people could not be provided satisfactorily, the doctor observed.
The machine had breakdown at many occasion in the pass too and director of MACS has been informed of the status of the machine on several occasion.
