The State Government has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati District to nab and imprison a fraudulent transport agent under National Security Act.
The agent, belonging to Senapati Bazar, was commissioned to ferry PDS rice of Mao A/C, Karong A/C and Tadubi A/C from Dimapur till Senapati at the recommendation of a Minister in the SPF Government.
However, the quantity of PDS rice deposited by the transport agent was much below the quantity he was asked to transport.
According to a reliable source, at the assurance of a Cabinet Minister, the Department of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution commissioned M/S SN Enterprises to ferry PDS rice for Mao A/C, Karong A/C and Tadubi A/C for the months of January and February this year from Dimapur to Senapati.
But the transport agency based at Senapati Bazar is yet to deposit 2188 quintals of rice at the department.
Taking serious note of the agency's fraudulence, Commissioner of the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution directed the Senapati DC to take up a criminal case and imprison proprietor of the agency Saniru under NSA in case he cannot deposit the remaining quantity of rice by November 21.The department has also written to its Minister about non-release of PDS rice for Karong A/C by Senapati DC citing failure of the transport agency to deposit the remaining quantity of rice.
The department has also intimated DC Senapati to instruct concerned SDOs to come to Sangaiprou FCS godown together with Fair Price Shop agents to lift PDS rice up to the month of June for Mao A/C and Tadubi A/C and up to the month of May for Karong A/C.
